Future Plans

Let’s face it – the main reason many of us go looking for a romantic interest is because we’re on the hunt for a partner we can spend the rest of our lives with. Of course, it can be difficult to tell if the person sitting in front of you is a stable partner or not, especially when it’s just a first date. But by asking the right questions, you can understand this more easily. Here are some interesting questions you can ask:

  • Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
  • Do you think I would be the type of person who would be happy in something permanent or is it something that doesn’t appeal to you?
  • How do you envision yourself in your old age?
  • Children – yes or no? How many children would you like when you feel ready?

When asking about future plans, it’s best to keep the questions as casual as possible. Of course, it is worth learning about the goals and aspirations of the person at heart, but try not to get too serious! Questions that make you seem like you’re digging into their personal territory can turn the person off. Do not get into very intimate topics but keep the conversation as light as possible. Try to use these questions sparingly and only ask them when appropriate.
