Denisa

Veroni

At the beginning of 2025, Denisa from Rahovec was only 20 when news of her female cousin’s engagement prompted her and her mother to create a dua.com profile for fun.
She had no idea that this spontaneous decision would lead her to Veroni, a 24-year-old from Vushtrri who lived 200 kilometres away in Nuremberg and would become the love of her life. Now engaged and full of plans for the future, they share their special story.
A life between two worlds
Denisa is only 20, but she knows exactly what she wants from life. She lives in Munich, where she is completing vocational training as a vehicle dispatcher. Raised in Germany with her heart rooted in Rahovec, she represents a new generation balancing two worlds. Her large extended family, with uncles on both sides living nearby, gives her a strong foundation and keeps her connected to tradition.
Veroni, 24, is from Vushtrri and has built his life in Nuremberg, where he works in heating and plumbing. With clear ambitions and concrete plans for the future, he is exactly what Denisa had always wanted: a mature, grounded man who knows where he is going.
“Mum, I’m opening a dua.com profile!”
January 2025 began with an unusual conversation in Denisa’s home. Her cousin had just become engaged, and Denisa suddenly asked herself: “Why not me?”
“For those of us who grew up outside Kosovo, meeting someone from the same culture has always been a challenge. You either had to travel to Kosovo to meet someone or wait for someone to find you. Even when I went to Kosovo, fitting in was difficult because I saw the world differently, especially after growing up in a country like Germany.”
“My parents had chosen each other, and I had always wanted to make my own decisions too. But I hesitated to use mainstream dating apps because finding Albanians there was almost impossible.”
“When I heard about dua.com, I knew it was the answer for me. I told my mum about it that same day.”
“I told my mum, ‘I’m joining dua.com and I’m going to find the love of my life,’” Denisa remembers with a smile. It began mostly as a joke, and mother and daughter spent hours setting up her profile.
To protect her privacy, Denisa used the name “Elisa”; she did not know what kind of people she might encounter.
“Elisa, love is writing to you” 🙂
Only two or three days later, a message arrived from Veroni. Denisa did not want to reply immediately, but her colleagues at work persuaded her to give him a chance.
Four days later, she answered. Once they began messaging, something special happened: the conversation flowed naturally, as though they had known each other for years.
The moment of truth came when Veroni asked for her Instagram account. Denisa had completely forgotten that she had called herself “Elisa” on her profile. “He kept calling me Elisa, and I couldn’t understand why he was so insistent about the name,” she says, laughing.
A walk I never wanted to end
After a week of intense conversations and sleepless nights spent talking, it was time for their first date. Veroni travelled to Munich and chose the Englischer Garten, a park that would become special to them.
What was meant to be a quick coffee became a four-hour walk that neither of them wanted to end.
“I was impressed that he had planned everything even though he wasn’t from Munich,” Denisa says. After the walk, they went for a meal, and something began that both felt immediately: they were Seelenverwandte, kindred spirits.
Little by little, he became the perfect son-in-law
On the dates that followed, Denisa travelled to Nuremberg two or three times and gradually met Veroni’s entire family. Veroni, meanwhile, came to Munich constantly and became part of Denisa’s family.
Her mother now calls him “the best son-in-law in the world”.
Honesty became the foundation of their love
One defining moment in their relationship was their decision to be completely open with one another. From the beginning, Denisa felt that she needed to be transparent.
“I didn’t want to give him a false impression of who I was. I wanted to be as authentic as possible,” she explains.
“I knew that if I was honest and this was real love, I could be myself without holding anything back or worrying about whether he understood me.”
Veroni did the same. They spoke about everything openly and never ran out of things to say. That complete openness created a deep connection between them.
“It is incredible how good it feels when you can be exactly who you are,” Denisa says with emotion.
In Veroni, she found what had been missing in many of the Albanian men she had met: someone deeply caring who looks after his family and her, and who is a genuinely dependable man with plans and ambition.
One love between two cultures
Another bond they share is that both grew up between two cultures: the heritage of their Albanian families and everyday life in German society.
There is something special about switching naturally between Albanian and German in the same conversation, knowing that the person opposite you understands not only the words but also how you think and experience both worlds at once.
A “yes” in June and plans for a life together
On 23 June 2025, after five months together, Denisa and Veroni became engaged. Both families were told and welcomed the news with great joy. They now plan to have their civil ceremony at the end of 2025 and a large wedding in Kosovo in 2027.
“We want enough time to plan it and celebrate exactly the way we want,” Denisa says of their decision to wait until 2027.
After they marry, they will continue their life in Germany, where they both grew up and share the same outlook: strongly connected to Kosovo while fully integrated into German society.
Dubai was their first trip as a couple, and they now look forward to spending their summer holidays in Kosovo. They make time for each other every weekend despite the distance and always anticipate their next meeting.
“Without dua.com, our paths would never have crossed”
Denisa is certain that without dua.com, she and Veroni would never have met.
“There was no reason our paths would ever have crossed, let alone for us to develop a feeling this special,” she says with conviction.
Denisa had never considered dating someone who was not Albanian. dua.com offered something no other app could: the chance to meet an Albanian in Germany who shared her values and aspirations.
“No one understands you like another Albanian, and you cannot express yourself with anyone else in quite the same way,” she says, explaining why her choice had always been clear.
Today, when people ask what makes her so happy, Denisa has a simple answer:
“I don’t know what more I could ask for. My family loves Veroni, his family loves me, and I feel completely at ease with him. We make memories and share everything. I want to spend my whole life with him.”
Their shared dream is simple but powerful: to start a family and grow old together, building a life filled with love between Germany and Kosovo.
