From Hamburg to Skenderaj, a 24-year-old renovation worker from Elbasan and an educator with roots in Montenegro are writing their love story through an app that unites Albanian hearts. Enes and Merita show how true love can overcome distance and differences.

Enes, 24 years old from Elbasan, has been living in Hamburg, Germany, for 5 years, where he works as a renovator. His life is built between two worlds – the heart in Albania, but the future in the foreign land. Like many young Albanians, he has learned to live with the longing for home, while building his dreams in the distance.

Merita, 24 years old from Montenegro, lives in Skenderaj, Kosovo, where she has just completed her studies as an educator in Pristina. She is determined in her professional dreams, but her heart was looking for something more...a true connection that does not detract from its cultural roots.

Both were from different Albanian territories, with different lives, but with a common desire:to find love without losing their identity.

Enes tells laughing that dua.com started "in vain" – friends in Germany had often mentioned it."If you want to meet someone, then dua.com is the app that unites Albanians." So they said to them.

So he decided to give it a try, because as he says:"I could never have imagined myself with someone from another nationality."

On the other hand, he had seen dua.com non-stop on social networks. "The marketing you did was extraordinary, because non-stop I was watching dua.com.", she says. At first he didn't even know how to use it – he got a lot of likes and didn't know what to do. But something prompted him to continue.

When they were matched in the app sometime in early May 2024, Enes was immediately fascinated by Merit's photos. But the biggest problem was communication – she didn't quite understand what she was writing.

"It was torture for me until we started talking on the phone by voice, because I did not understand very much what Merita wrote." He remembers laughing.

There was something special about that girl. Of all the likes and conversations he had on dua.com during his two months as a member premium it just made him want it more. He even saved the first few words of the conversation as a screenshot.

The July of 2024 brought the first meeting. Enesi traveled from Elbasan to Pristina, where Merita had an exam at AAB. She waited patiently until she finished the exam, and then they met for the first time.

Her unwavering love and determination of Anas, who never gave up, finally broke through the walls. After six months, the family agreed to meet Ananias.

A 40-minute phone call with my father, it was the next step.

But soon after that call, Merit's parents asked to see his parents.

The meeting began at the house of Merit, only to continue in the Prekaz, which also became a symbolic place for their relationship – where both fathers, after a short conversation, decided to make overtake one another.. From that moment on, all prejudices and barriers were removed.

Distance is the biggest challenge. Enesi was not just in Germany – every time he returned, he would come home to Elbasan and then leave again for Merit in Kosovo. Journeys from Elbasan to Pristina and Skenderaj became a regularity for Enes.

"I never expected how many times I could meet Merit, but I used to feel tired." Accepts the encyclopedia. Love is stronger than any difficulty.

In March 2025, Merit visited Annes in Germany for a week."We both remember this week as one of the best times, as we have enjoyed having the opportunity to imagine in detail our common life in Germany and "How do we build a family?"

One day, Merit had stayed in Pristina and there was no public transport from 4 pm to home. Enes, without one or two, decided to leave for Pristina from Elbasan to see Merit and take her home.

On May 21, 2024, Merit told Annesi I love you. It's a day I remember very carefully.

In December 2024 he found his fiancée, and now they are preparing for wedding on August 16, 2025 in Elbasan. The whole family of Ennes from the diaspora will unite for this great day. Merit's sister, a designer, is preparing her dress, while the couple coordinates every detail over the phone.

After the wedding, Merit will move to Germany where they plan to start their own family. She sees it as an option to learn the language and integrate into society, continuing her profession as an educator there as well.

Anas and Merit share their story with a clear purpose:"We have to move as far away from prejudices as possible, because we are very few and we have to come together, because we are one people."
